he company C&M was created in 2006. Our aim was simple : becoming a reference in wirerope works for ski area operators and industry. We realized our first works on the Verbier funitel, Serre Chevalier, Alpe d’Huez and also in la Bresse on skilifts. The second year, we’ve been fitting on our truck a winch that will revolutionize cable unwinding on surface lifts. The story starts this way and our references have been increasing year after year since then.
Today we realize more than 60 works on skilifts each year, along with more than 20 on chairifts and gondolas, plus some special operations like lately with changing track ropes on les Houches and la Grave cable cars.
We are constantly trying to push our know-how to other fields, even if ropeways are still the heart of our activity, we are also working on some touristic facilities like theme parcs, ziplines, footbridges, and also with some energy providers. We are now pushing our skills far from our national boundaries, like lately in Lebanon, United Arab Emirates, Portugal, Switzerland, Canada, and also in Reunion Island and French Guyana.
We’ve got the CE certification for all our splicing works, and our team is made of 4 splicers plus a dozen of workers. We are able to manage works and teams in english, what we are used to do when working overseas.
We are also working on rethinking the way to use cables, in reusing cables in good shape from old lifts being dismantled, to put it on other lifts especially old ones that do not need the purchase of a new cable. This process has been successful in a couple of French ski areas like Serre Chevalier, Saint Lary Soulan, la Bresse and Courchevel.
With this large range of skills, we are now the essential patner of all wirerope works in France, and increasingly overseas.
